Well, I have officially graduated from college (Warren Wilson College, to be precise). It feels.... liberating? Exciting? Scary? All three and more, perhaps? Anyway, I feel all grown up now. And smart. Since I was the last one to walk across the stage, I got to turn the tassle and start the throwing of caps. It was pretty awesome, and many people told me that they really liked how I did it. But anyways...NO MO' SCHOOL!!  =D

I have a few prospects as far as jobs go. I had an internship with the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay last summer, and my supervisor said she got a grant for one of the projects we had been working on, so she might be able to hire me once I had graduated. I also have a friend who works for Troeg's Brewing Company in central Pennsylvania, and he said the microbiologist that works there might be looking to hire, too. Which would be awesome. Since I want to maybe start my own brewery someday, I think it might be good to get some experience in the industry. Wish me luck!!

Also, I want to plant an herb garden outside my window, but it is pretty much shaded there. Anybody have any shade-tolerant herb suggestions?

CONGRATULATIONS on GRADUATING!

I knew you would do it with flying colors. Good luck with the job prospects and go eat at Wawa for me.

Mint, catnip, anything in the mint family. Catnip grows VERY well from seed. The mint family should be planted in containers so it plays nice with the rest of the yard.

If you have a south (or SE or SW) facing window, basil just Will Not Die if it gets enough sunlight. It can be wilting for three days, and, with lots of water, it is back to normal in a few hours. However, I would recommend giving it a "sip" of water every day. About half a cup to a cup. If the leaves turn yellow, use less water. And cut basil grows roots in a vase, no fancy chemicals needed.

Sorry about the basil gushing. It is rare that I find an edible plant that thrives on neglect.

PS: I'm so spoiled by WWC. I just realized that I haven't seen any fire spinning in over a year. You should come up here to visit!
