Well, I have officially graduated from college (Warren Wilson College, to be precise). It feels.... liberating? Exciting? Scary? All three and more, perhaps? Anyway, I feel all grown up now. And smart. Since I was the last one to walk across the stage, I got to turn the tassle and start the throwing of caps. It was pretty awesome, and many people told me that they really liked how I did it. But anyways...NO MO' SCHOOL!!
I have a few prospects as far as jobs go. I had an internship with the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay last summer, and my supervisor said she got a grant for one of the projects we had been working on, so she might be able to hire me once I had graduated. I also have a friend who works for Troeg's Brewing Company in central Pennsylvania, and he said the microbiologist that works there might be looking to hire, too. Which would be awesome. Since I want to maybe start my own brewery someday, I think it might be good to get some experience in the industry. Wish me luck!!
Also, I want to plant an herb garden outside my window, but it is pretty much shaded there. Anybody have any shade-tolerant herb suggestions?

Finished
Well, I have finally finished writing all the scenes I needed to for Empty Sky. I have much editing to do to streamline it, but essentially, it is complete. I finished it in my genetics class yesterday, then sat there staring at the page feeling somewhat euphoric. But anyway, I am hoping to get one or two chapters up today. Then I will probably go through the whole thing and re-edit some stuff. A scene or two may get added.
Anyway, if you have not yet read this, and would like to, here is a link to the prologue. http://fav.me/d4bjaw0
Getting Close
So, in exactly four weeks, I will have graduated from college (provided I, y'know, pass all my classes). The emotions within me are all but overwhelming. I had a cry session in a professor's office earlier this week, that started out as 'OMG, I have so much shit to do.' and somehow turned into 'I don't wanna leave this beautiful place.'
My last three years here have really been something else. I will miss the faces and the places, the mountains and the river, the early morning mist and the bright afternoon sun. There was a scholarship luncheon today that I attended, as I have received scholarship aid for the past three years, and my donors g
Senior Thesis
Well, this is my last semester in college (undergrad, in case anyone is wondering), and I am presenting my senior thesis, known here as a Natural Science Seminar for science majors (AKA, me) on Monday. I am... a mixed bag of feelings. Nervous, for certain, but I also feel like I can rock this. As my adviser says, I have a good story to tell.
For any of you who consume that popular alcoholic beverage called beer, you may already know that, when homebrewed or brewed in a microbrewery, the beer is flavored with hops. But before that, long LONG before that, beer was flavored with a wide variety of herbs, hops being used only as much as any other
Empty Sky (again)
It has been a while since I last added a piece to my novel, but I will have another (short) segment up as soon as I get it typed up.
In case it was not clear (cause I know I am a wee confusing at times), I write things down in a notebook first, then edit as I type it into a document on my computer. I have, as far as I can see, two more scenes to write. O.O Woah. This is really exciting for me, cause I have never finished anything but a short story before. >.

CONGRATULATIONS on GRADUATING!
I knew you would do it with flying colors. Good luck with the job prospects and go eat at Wawa for me.
Mint, catnip, anything in the mint family. Catnip grows VERY well from seed. The mint family should be planted in containers so it plays nice with the rest of the yard.
If you have a south (or SE or SW) facing window, basil just Will Not Die if it gets enough sunlight. It can be wilting for three days, and, with lots of water, it is back to normal in a few hours. However, I would recommend giving it a "sip" of water every day. About half a cup to a cup. If the leaves turn yellow, use less water. And cut basil grows roots in a vase, no fancy chemicals needed.
Sorry about the basil gushing. It is rare that I find an edible plant that thrives on neglect.
PS: I'm so spoiled by WWC. I just realized that I haven't seen any fire spinning in over a year. You should come up here to visit!
